Program Assistant for Student Activities

Description:The Graduate Assistant for Student Activities is an academic year appointment working approximately 25 hours per week. This individual is responsible for providing oversight for weekend programming (CU at Night) and large-scale, campus-wide ig programs. The GA will work to ensure that student programming and activities are consistent with the mission and goals of the University and contribute to an enriched and robust quality of student life.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Assistant Director of Student Activities in developing, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive program which delivers quality and diverse programming opportunities.
Assist in providing leadership for and budget management of weekend programming.
Assist in the planning and coordination of University events such as Spring Fling, Carroll's Got Talent, Alcohol Awareness Week, etc.
Create marketing material and promote student activities and events in order to encourage maximum attendance by all students.
Provide assistance in leading, motivating, supervising and evaluating the student staff.
Assess program needs and develop new programming initiatives.
Act as a student advocate, providing guidance and appropriate referrals to students seeking assistance.
Actively participate in appropriate Carroll University committees, task forces, and professional associations and conferences.
Assist with the production of major University-wide programs including New Student Orientation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree required
Preference will be given to candidates with at least two years of experience (including undergraduate experience) in student activities, Greek Life, program planning and/or event management.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work some nights and weekends
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
High energy level, self-motivated and self-directed to design and implement programming and events.
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
