Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Students for Student Engagement, the Student Development Coordinator provides vision and direction for the development and implementation of a comprehensive array of co-curricular student learning initiatives designed to increase student interaction, build community, promote civic engagement and global awareness, support community partnerships, and enhance leadership development. This position provides education and outreach to students within the University community, advocates on behalf of the fraternal experience, and collaborates with alumni, campus departments, community members, and fraternal organizations to drive the university and the department's mission. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to, advisement, education, and management of fraternities and sororities, and coordination of special projects, and oversight of the eSports program. This position also serves as Executive Director of the Miss Columbus State University Scholarship Pageant.

Responsibilities

Significant duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Primary Advisor for (12+) sanctioned fraternity and sorority organizations spanning across three governing councils, Greek Programming Board, and Order of Omega (70%)- Provide on-going training and guidance to executive board members, chapter leaders and organization advisors on all policies, procedures, and best practices to include but not limited to recruitment/intake process, risk management, university policies, procedures, community expectations, and self-governance.; Collaborate with the Office of the Dean of Students for all fraternity/sorority conduct issues.; Provide educational, leadership, and member development opportunities for chapter and prospective members to include but not limited to sexual assault awareness, leadership, bystander intervention, New Member Program, and FSL 101.; Oversee the implementation, assessment, and reporting of the Pillars of Excellence Accreditation Program.; Plan and execute annual Greek Leadership Retreat, Greek Week, Meet the Greeks, Homecoming Greek events, and various Greek life programming initiatives.; Provide direction, leadership, and guidance to groups interested in the Greek expansion process as well as those engaged in expansion.; Hire, train and supervise (1) Graduate Assistant and additional office student assistants.; Oversee and create all marketing initiatives for fraternity and sorority life.; Oversight of facilities to include the Greek Center and management of associated program state-funded budgets.

Oversee and collaborate with aspects of various programmatic/leadership areas (e.g. Student Activities, Orientation, Leadership and Service, etc.). (15%)- Serve as the co-advisor for Cougar Kickoff welcome back events including student committee oversight, programming and events, promotion, and logistics.; Oversee the institutional-sponsored eSports program including recruitment, team initiatives, scholarships, and season/team coordination.; Serve on appropriate university committees and governing boards.; Work closely with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to collaborate on programmatic initiatives designed to support the college student experience.

Executive Director, Miss Columbus State University Scholarship Pageant (15%)- Plan yearly scholarship competition and serve as chair of the board for the Miss Columbus State University Scholarship Program.; Accompany titleholder on appearances on campus as well as assist in preparation for Miss Georgia.; Create, connect, and implement leadership development opportunities.

Required Qualifications

Required qualifications include: Bachelor's degree and evidence of increasing levels of responsibility in both supervisory and budgetary management experiences; Working experience (typically 1-3 years) working in higher education in advising, developing, coordinating, and evaluating student life programs; preferably in fraternity/sorority life.; Affiliation with an international fraternal organization.; Extensive understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.; Experience working closely with students from higher education settings.; Extensive experience initiating, planning, implementing, and evaluating episodic and ongoing programmatic efforts.; Experience developing and implementing strategic planning and knowledge of assessment methods and activities; ability to assess programs and review students' learning outcomes to ensure achievement of objectives and strategies.; Experience working collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders in a wide variety of university initiatives and committees.; Experience in developing and implementing student-driven programmatic efforts.; Extensive display of understanding college student development, student development theoretical frameworks college student personnel, organizational structure in higher education, and facilities management.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Educational Policy, Counseling, or other closely related field with at least 2 years of applicable experience is preferred.

Proposed Salary

The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $40,568- 42,500 and includes full benefits.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include: Have a strong understanding of NIC Standards of Operations, NPC and NPHC procedures and policies.; Ability to effectively research other university best practices and follow nationwide trends in fraternity and sorority life. Maintain a sound understanding of university, state-wide, institutional policies and procedures and best business practices.; Ability to successfully guide student leaders through training, advising, educational opportunities, mentorship, and creative problem solving.; Proficient verbal and non-verbal communicator who can articulate and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.; Ability to manage and maintain supervision of staff, budget and fiscal responsibilities.; Ability to collect, analyze, disseminate, and report data, as well as provide current and future trends regarding student development.; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external stakeholders and constituencies.; Ability to manage and coordinate other duties as assigned.
