Job Summary
The Student Services Coordinator manages day-to-day operations of incoming and outgoing exchange and study abroad program support services and conducts J-1 student and scholar immigration advisement on Georgia Southern's Statesboro campus, although travel is required. This position oversees study abroad and exchange student programs throughout the application, advising, arrival, and returning processes, adhering to best practices.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) with SEVIS, advising and assisting exchange students and scholars on J-1 visa regulations and benefits while maintaining SEVIS compliance.
- Assist with the DS-2019 distribution, communication, and support services for J-1 exchange students and scholars.
- Facilitate all exchange and study abroad processes including, but not limited to, program advising and selection, application reviews, exchange interviews, course enrollment and verification, and documentation monitoring.
- Organize semesterly study abroad fairs for all campuses.
- Coordinate exchange programs and workshops that promote the success and retention of the exchange student population.
- Coordinate the Exchange Student sections of the semesterly international student orientations, including presenting on maintaining J-1 status, exchange advising, and enrolling students in classes.
- Present to campus and classrooms about Study Abroad/Exchange opportunities.
- Serve as the primary campus contact for exchange partner institutions and 3rd party providers.
- Update website brochures and program information with the most current information.
- Cultivate marketing initiatives and projects for OGE by managing the department website, and social media, and pursuing other campus-wide initiatives.
- Serve as the OGE liaison for University Communications and Marketing.

- Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience
- Three (3) or more years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of TerraDotta or other study abroad program management systems
- Knowledge of Banner
- Knowledge of J-1 exchange student and scholar regulations
Preferred Educational Qualifications
- Master's Degree
Proposed Salary
$20.70 - $21.63 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
