Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Learning Specialist and will be primarily responsible for assisting student-athletes in developing academic skills such as study strategies, time management, reading and writing skills, and test-taking strategies. Also assists Academic Advisors with small group study halls, reports, and some advising duties. Helps equip student-athletes with tools, skills, and knowledge for facilitating the academic development of at-risk students.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops and fulfills academic support plans for student-athletes with high support needs
2. Reviews and monitors academic progress for assigned student-athletes
3. Communicates with leaders and/or Academic Advisors to discuss student-athletes' progress and development
4. Assists with reports and communication sent to coaching staff
5. Assists with supervision of afternoon and evening study halls
6. Assists leaders and staff of Student-Athlete Development with events
7. Assists Program Coordinator with tutor observations and training
8. Assists with Summer Bridge programming, screenings and evaluations for incoming class
9. Works with supervisor and other staff on various day-to-day charges and standing projects with our campus partners and academic community
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in education, sports administration, counseling, or related field
Required Experience
Desire to pursue a career in academic support for student-athletes
Experience working with students in an educational environment
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of educational regulations (FERPA, HIPPA, IDEA, ADA, 504, etc.)
Knowledge of NCAA compliance and eligibility regulations
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree in education, sports administration, counseling, or related field
Preferred Experience
Experience working with student-athletes in an academic setting
Experience in NCAA Division-I athletics program

Able to teach educational and learning strategies
Able to employ strategies for motivating and encouraging students' academic progress
Able to work in a fast-paced, high stress environment
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Understanding of educational pedagogy
Understanding of unique learning needs of student-athletes and/or students with learning difficulties
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
