Job Summary:
The Athletics Department at SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for an Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance and Development. The Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance and Development oversees all aspects of NCAA compliance and eligibility for each student-athlete. This position serves as an advisor to Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), coordinates pre-season, intersession, and mid-semester break logistics, as well as other supervisory and administrative duties. The Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance and Development is a full time, 12-month position that reports to the Director of Athletics.
Compliance
- Serves as the Athletic Department's Compliance Coordinator.
- Conducts eligibility meetings and administers all forms for each team at the start of their respective seasons.
- Educates the coaches and staff of NCAA rules and rule modifications.
- Follows and ensures staff compliance of departmental procedures as outlined in athletic department policies and procedures handbook.
- Ensures all participating athletes are NCAA eligible to compete and maintain eligibility records. Monitors the NCAA rules test.
- Certifies and monitors all student-athletes academic and athletic eligibility.
- Tags all student-athletes in the Banner system.
- Assists in generating all required academic reports.
- Serves as the department's representative with the offices of BASC, Res. Life, Campus Recreation and Health Services.
- Attends all Empire 8 Athletic Directors' meetings with the Director of Athletics and Assistant Director of Athletics.
- Prepares reports that pertain to student-athlete academic performance as directed by the Director.
- Develops a communication structure with coaches and the Director keeping them informed of the academic performance of student-athletes.
Enrollment Management - Student development
- Serves as member of EM Assessment Team (EAT), responsible for completion of department's annual report.
- Serves as an Admissions liaison for the Athletic Department.
- Serves as liaison between the Athletics Department and Residence Life & Housing Office.
- Serves as the liaison to BASC.
- Serves as liaison to Student Conduct and Title IX Offices.
- Serves as an advisor to Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Student Athletes for Equity (SAFE) committee.
Administration
- Oversees and evaluates the following sports: Swimming & Diving, Women's Basketball, Gymnastics, Women's Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, Softball.
- Conducts regular meetings with direct reports.
- Assists with event management and supervision.
- Coordinates pre-season, intercession, and spring break logistics.
- Sits on the Director of Athletics Cabinet.
- Attends all Empire 8 Athletic Directors' meetings with the Director of Athletics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
- Minimum of three years' experience working in an Intercollegiate Athletic Department or similar environment.
- Experience overseeing NCAA compliance and eligibility rulings.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university.
- Working knowledge of BANNER, EMS, ARGOS and Brightspace.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm flexible, weekend and evening hours are required
Salary and Benefits: Minimum starting salary - $63,352
