Position Summary:
This position is is responsible for managing the immigration advising and support services for UI's international student population of approximately 600. This position requires in-depth knowledge of federal immigration regulations for F-1 and J-1 visa holders and a high degree of sensitivity to cultural and linguistic diversity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience delivering student-centered customer service
- Experience Presenting information clearly and concisely to individuals, small and large groups
- Experience compiling and analyzing information for leadership/administrative decisions
- Experience Interpreting and applying standards and regulations
- Experience coordinating logistics for events involving travel, accommodations and programming for multiple participants
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
- Master's degree in related field
Experience:
- Two years of related work experience
- Experience advising international students on immigration regulations
- Experience researching & organizing information and generating reports
- Experience creating and presenting workshops to small and large groups
- Experience designing and conducting training programs
- Experience with sponsored student programs (i.e. SACM, IIE, IREX, etc.)
- Experience as a DSO and/or ARO
- Experience advising international students
- Experience working with linguistically diverse students
- Experience working in higher education
Skills/Knowledge/Ability to:
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to multitask
- Knowledge of federal immigration regulations (specifically F-1 and J-1 student and scholar visa regulations)
- Knowledge of working with UI systems (e.g. Banner, Sunapsis)
- Ability to operate with autonomy and use independent judgment
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- High level of computer proficiency (e.g. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, etc.)
