Coordinator for Student Life

The Coordinator for Student Life is charged with providing high impact experiences and support to students through involvement in student organizations, fraternities, sororities, and civic engagement. They will work with the Director and Assistant Director of Student Life to create an environment that fosters and promotes student learning and development. Student Life is home to approximately 150 Recognized Student Organizations and 18 national/international fraternities and sororities. Student Life provides service opportunities, leadership training, and student engagement opportunities to all students, and coordinates or plays a role in several university events including Welcome Weekend, Homecoming, Family Weekend, Greekfest, I Heart UTM Week, and more.

Duties:
  • Manage and facilitate the recruitment programs of IFC and CPC Organizations and serve as the liaison between University and National Greek Organizations and Chapter Advisers.
  • Advise IFC and/or CPC councils in relation to programming, risk management, judicial affairs, construction and by-law adherence, parliamentary procedure, and budget management. Conduct weekly meetings with IFC and/or CPC council to review council business and oversee the IFC and/or CPC council officer election and training process.
  • Promote partnerships across the Greek councils to enhance campus programming and diversity.
  • Provide support and be a resource for student organizations.
  • Provide support to the Assistant Director of Student Life in coordinating oversight and advising for student leaders and general members of all fraternal student organizations to include initiating, developing, implementing and evaluating various educational, training, accountability and recognition programs in support of their leadership and organizational needs.
  • Disseminate and interpret University policies and procedures as they pertain to fraternities, sororities, student organizations, and activities.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all community service reporting for the UT Promise. Maintain community service records for both UT Promise and student organization service record. Build and maintain relationships with on and off campus agencies to provide service opportunities for students. Plan, execute, and oversee the Service Saturday programs.
  • Assist with reviewing and approving student organization, fraternity, and sorority events and programs as it relates to areas of responsibility. Coordinate efforts with faculty, staff, and community organization advisors and encourage their involvement in programming efforts.
  • Oversee process of developing new organizations and facilitate regular meetings of student leaders to communicate programming, policies and address issues.
  • Promote partnerships across the Greek councils to enhance campus programming and diversity.
  • Assist in collecting and reporting information to be used for university-level reports or briefings; assist in preparing and editing various annual and periodic reports and proposals as well as relevant sections of various institutional, division and department publication
  • Provide data and reporting information as it relates to the UT Promise and community service efforts of student groups
  • Provide relative data in reference to Student Life on campus that can be used for assessment and decision making.   • Serve on Division, University and Community committees as assigned.
  • Serve as a Student Life resource expert to student recruitment initiatives.
  • Provide emergency response and crisis intervention to the campus community when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications
    1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
    2. Two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Leadership or Student Personnel or related field
    2. Experience in Greek Life and/or Student Life programming
