International Student Success Coordinator
Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) and three years of full-time administrative experience. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) and one year of full time administrative experience (related student work experience may be considered). Experience working in international education or related fields. Experience in program development and coordination. Student advising experience. Proficiency in using technology and software for student management and communication (i.e. Peoplesoft, Slate, Banner, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in a related field (e.g., International Relations, International Education). Experience with Peoplesoft, Slate, Banner, Terra Dotta, and/or Sunapsis. General knowledge of international student regulations relating to F-1 and J-1 student status. Experience in office management. International work experience or study abroad experience. Second language proficiency. Experience managing professional social media accounts (i.e. WeChat, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc.). Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and/or Qualtrics. Experience with data collection strategies to include detailed data analysis.
Brief Description of Duties:
The International Student Success Coordinator plays a critical role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for international students at Stony Brook University. This role is student-facing, providing a high level of customer service and support to international students. This position is responsible for coordinating a range of services and programs designed to enhance academic success, personal development, and cultural adjustment of international students. The coordinator will work closely with various campus departments, faculty, and staff to ensure that international students have the resources and support they need to thrive. This position will have alternate working hours up to 2 days per week, with some evening, early morning, and weekend programming.
Duties:
- Student Support and Office Management:
- Provide general office management for the International Student Center, including procurement for office and event use.
- Assist students with understanding and navigating university policies, procedures, and resources.
- Hire, train, and supervise student staff to deliver high-quality customer service and student support.
- Develop print and digital promotional materials for the office.
- Effective communication with students, faculty, and staff.
- Program Development and Coordination:
- Design and implement programs and large and small-scale workshops that promote the academic success and personal well-being of international students.
- Coordinate orientation programs for new international students, ensuring a smooth transition to the campus community.
- Collaborate with campus and overseas partners to offer cultural, social, and educational activities and presentations.
- Cultural Adjustment and Integration:
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive campus environment through intercultural competence training and programming.
- Support initiatives that promote cultural exchange and understanding among the campus and local community.
- Advocate for the unique needs of international students in various campus forums.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress.
- Assist with the preparation of reports and documentation required by university administration.
In addition to the duties listed above, one position will focus on outreach and the other position will focus on data collection, analysis and reporting.

- Create and disseminate content for social media, website, and outreach campaigns to promote student events and activities.
- Serve as a liaison between international students and campus resources, including academic departments, student services, and community organizations.
- Build relationships with external organizations that support international student success.
- Participate in campus committees and task forces related to international education and student success.
- Assist with data collection, data analysis and data visualization as they relate to international student success initiatives.

- Design and implement data collection strategies for surveys, program participation as it relates to international student success efforts.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for international student success initiatives.
- Produce regular reports and presentations to inform decision-making and strategic planning for international student success initiatives.
- Design and administer surveys to collect feedback from international students regarding their experiences and needs.
- Collaborate with campus partners to ensure accurate and relevant data collection as it relates to international student success.
- Assist with social media content development and delivery, website management and outreach campaigns for student events and activities.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
Evening and weekend work may be required at times.
