Coordinator, Student Athlete Services - Department of Athletics

Requirements

Consistent with the University's Academic Resource Center and Department of Athletics missions and commitments to the comprehensive development of the student, the Coordinator for Student-Athlete Services strengthens the University's academic support network by providing academic coaching to empower student-athletes to become student-centered learners and to enhance their academic performance. The Coordinator for Student-Athlete Services serves as the campus-wide liaison to other units/individuals to establish goals, develop policy, and participate in institutional planning surrounding student-athlete education and welfare. Working closely with senior administrators across different schools, with directors of programs who integrate academic and curricular experiences, and with departments that provide direct and administrative student services, additional duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist with creating, revising, recommending, and implementing University policies, practices, and procedures and interpret them for students, faculty, and parents.
  • Advise Division I college student-athletes, overseeing daily work routines that demand the ability to adeptly interact with individuals possessing a wide variety of educational preparations and achievements, as well as different social and economic backgrounds.
  • Maintain high organization while establishing priorities independently, working under time constraints.
  • Constantly balance potentially inconsistent priorities regarding academic and athletic achievement in a highly competitive academic and athletic institution.


Work Interactions
The Coordinator for Student-Athlete Services is a member of a professional staff of 12 within the Academic Resource Center. The Coordinator reports to the Associate Director for Student-Athlete Services. The Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, delivering and evaluating academic programs for assigned athletic teams. The Coordinator routinely interacts with senior administrators in the Athletic Department, across the different schools, the President's and the Provost's Office, and programs regarding student-athlete welfare, development and support. In addition, the Coordinator collaborates with outside support services to provide assistance to student-athletes when University services are inadequate. The Coordinator for Student-Athlete Services also represents the university to students, parents, alumni and other constituencies. This position requires work outside the scope of normal business hours and may require some travel.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • Three to Five years of professional experience in teaching, academic advising, or career development in a higher education setting
  • Experience with culturally and academically diverse populations of students with the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and problem solve
  • Comprehensive knowledge of University academic rules and regulations, along with familiarity with undergraduate degree requirements for each school, ensuring timely graduation
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of NCAA Compliance Rules and Regulations, including Big East and Patriot League Legislation, especially as they pertain to athletic eligibility and progress towards degree
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with computer knowledge required by duties
  • Prescribes and practices ethical behavior
  • Appreciation of Jesuit culture and values

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
